Becky's Training Camp Summary
By Becky Hammon, BeckyHammon.com, 05/20/02

Well it's great to be back in N.Y. and even better being back on the court with all my Liberty teammates. Many of us haven't seen each other since the end of last year, so it's been nice to catch up on what everyone's been up to. Training camp is now coming to an end, and I'd be lying if I said that I'm not glad it's almost over. Our camp, as usual, is one of the toughest ones around the League. We normally practice 4.5 hrs. a day straight through. It gets very long, but I guess it's better than having two-a-days. It's not as easy to get around N.Y. City, as it is other cities, so having two a days would probably be more inconvenient than 4.5 hrs. straight.

We've had three exhibition games, two against Houston, and one vs. Washington. Two of the games have been on the road. Our first two games were definitely ugly, but things looked a little more in sync our third time around. Our preseason record ended up being 1-2, but the most important thing is that we've learned a lot during the past three weeks.

We open up on Sat. against L.A. which should be fun. They'll be receiving their rings that day, so they'll be pumped up ready to go. This will also provide us with a lot of energy and excitement. Our season is definitely starting out on a tough leg of road games. At least we will now where we stand right away and know where we need to be putting in extra work. I'm excited and very interested to see where this season takes us, down a similar path, or down a path we haven't yet walked....the path that leads to the world championship.
